ACTIVITIES UPDATES Coronavirus – COVID 19

Will to Win
Sport Activities
updates due to
Coronavirus
COVID 19

At Will to Win your safety is our first priority, as such we wanted to update you with what we are currently doing in response to COVID-19.

All our Tennis and Padel Courts are now open and available for bookings and private lessons!!

You can play singles tennis with one friend and doubles with people you share your household with.

Courts can only be booked online here!

One on one private lessons are also available. Please book directly with a coach.

We are slowly reopening our café at WTW Hyde Park, WTW Regent’s Park and WTW Lammas Park and adjust it to safe, take away service. Please see sport centre pages for details.

Please be sure you book your court in advance on line as we expect demand to be high and do not come to the Centre without having booked first to ensure social distancing.

Unfortunately we can not hire any equipment until further notice. Balls and grips can be purchased, but you will need to mark your balls with a marker pen. All our Centres will be cashless with immediate effect. Alternatively, you can use any credit you have on your account.

Please note, there will be no toilet or refreshment facilities available for the time being. Once the government guidelines permit, we will also offer a tennis coaching programme again, as well as football and netball pitch bookings.

We recommend the following to keep you safe during your visit to our venue:

BEFORE YOU PLAY

Arrange to play doubles only with people in your household or singles with a friend. Do not play if any of you:
– Are exhibiting any symptoms of the coronavirus
– Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
– Are a vulnerable individual. A vulnerable individual is an elderly individual and/or an individual with serious underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma and those whose immune system is compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer and other conditions requiring such therapy.

PREPARING TO PLAY

Protect against infections:
– Follow the entrance and exit markings and allow people to vacate the court before you enter.
– Wash your hands with a disinfectant soap and water (for 20 seconds or longer), or use a hand sanitizer if soap and water are not readily available, before going to the court.
– Clean and wipe down your equipment, including racquets and water bottles. Do not share racquets or any other equipment such as wristbands, grips, hats and towels.
– Bring a full water bottle to avoid touching a tap or water fountain handle.
– Use new balls and a new grip, if possible. (and mark them)
– Consider taking extra precautions such as wearing gloves.
– If you need to sneeze or cough, do so into a tissue or upper sleeve.
– Arrive as close as possible to when you need to be there.
– Avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc. if you can.

WHEN PLAYING

– Try to stay at least two metres apart from other players. Do not make physical contact with them (such as shaking hands or a high five).
– Avoid touching your face after handling a ball, racquet or other equipment. Wash your hands promptly if you have touched your eyes, nose or mouth.
– Avoid sharing food, drinks or towels.
– Use your racquet/foot to pick up balls and hit them to your opponent. Avoid using your hands to pick up the balls or wear protective gloves.
– Stay on your side of court. Avoid changing ends of the court.
– Remain apart from other players when taking a break.
– If a ball from another court comes to you, send it back with a kick or with your racquet.

AFTER PLAYING

– Leave the court as soon as reasonably possible.
– Wash your hands thoroughly or use a hand sanitizer after coming off the court.
– Do not use the locker room or changing area. Shower at home.
– No extra-curricular or social activity should take place. No congregation after playing.
– All players should leave the facility immediately after play.

USE FOUR BALLS OR SIX BALLS

Although unlikely, it’s possible that a tennis ball can transmit the COVID-19 virus, as virtually any hard surface can transmit the disease. So here is an extra precaution you can take to keep safe when playing tennis:
– Open a can of tennis balls and mark them.
– Use your racquet head or feet to advance the ball to the other side of the court.

In the meantime, we are working hard to to ensure social distancing measures are in place in our clubhouses to make sure they are safe places for our customers and staff to be and hope to be able to open the rest of the facilities as soon as possible.

Please read LTA Guidance for Tennis Players before you play!

STAY ALERT, CONTROL THE VIRUS AND SAVE LIVES!
