Thank you for enquiring about the Will to Win Tennis Centre (WTW) based in Regents Park. I would like to explain a little about our centre and what we offer and want to achieve.
Our aim is to make your tennis experience with us pleasurable and one that will make you want to continue to play and enjoy the sport. We are a public facility and therefore you do not need to be a MEMBER, and there is no dress code (except for non-marking soles) or committees.
As members of the public, you are entitled to book 3 days in advance - and you will be asked to pay a court fee for each hour before play.
Will to Win is working closely with the Royal Parks and the Tennis Foundation to develop the tennis facilities and programmes to enable a wide range of the local community to participate. This includes a commitment to provide the following:-
- Adult and junior coaching programme, including mini tennis red orange and green sessions.
- A free schools coaching programme.
- Social tennis sessions for adults and juniors.
- Free junior walk on access 3.00-5.00pm Monday- Friday.
- Teams and competitive opportunities, both in teams and via fun social events
- Individual coaching.
- Leagues- enabling you to find partners to play with.
- A range of sports goods on sale, rackets, footwear and stringing – including hire rackets.
The facilities have improved over the past few years with the addition of floodlights on 4 courts and 2 mini tennis courts. We have ‘club mark’ accreditation, a sign of best practice and we are also a ‘Beacon’ site of the a quality mark for public tennis facilities.
The Tennis Centre will provide good value, quality facilities, catering for all levels of tennis players from complete beginners to advanced juniors and adults.
Booking cards will be available for those who play more regularly enabling week-long advance bookings at a preferential rate. Unfortunately, at the present moment, we are not able to accept new cardholders until next 2010 - 2011 season. If you would like to join us then, please put your name on our cardholder’s waiting list in January 2010.
WTW Regents Park has links with many local private tennis clubs and the Centre acts as a valuable stepping-stone to help players pass the ‘playing-in’ test at these clubs. WTW also works closely with local schools in the area and has an active junior coaching programme. This completes the community triangle: Schools – Clubs – Tennis Centre.
At the Tennis Centre, we let you decide how you want to organize your tennis. You can choose from one of the following:
1. Pay & Play – just pop down when you like and pay £10.50 per court per hour (free for juniors under 16 yrs). This is the most flexible way of playing tennis, but you aren’t guaranteed a court.
2. Book in advance, and then Pay & Play – you can buy a Booking card, which enables you to telephone up to 7 days in advance and then pay £8.50 per court per hour the day you play. This costs £80 and also entitles you to a discount at the WTW tennis shop on rackets, clothing and footwear as well as entry into the Wimbledon ballot-plus many other benefits.
In addition, there are lots of other things going on all year round at the Centre – just ask for our latest diary of events. Below are some of the key activities:
- Singles Leagues – a great way to meet players of a similar standard
- Social Tennis – come along on a Wednesday evening from 7.00- 9.00pm or on a
Sunday
afternoon from 2-5pm (1-4pm in winter) and we will organize a partner for you.
- Lessons – Group & Individual lessons are available from one of seven qualified
coaches at (see separate price schedule).
- Teams – there are teams in the Middlesex League. Match practice is on Saturday
afternoons.
There’s an excellent programme for JUNIOR PLAYERS too. WTW is very committed to the development of junior tennis and has teams in the Middlesex league. There is coaching for juniors on Saturday mornings from 10am until noon as well as after school sessions. The highlight of the year is the tennis camps, which run during the school holidays. All junior players that take part in a course automatically gain cardholder status- providing they sign up the British Tennis – free at www.willtowin.co.uk
Season tickets are available for juniors too for £30 per annum. This represents excellent value for money giving children priority at selected times. Discounts on lessons and the ability to book a court 7 days in advance.
