The Greenwich Tennis Centre is located on the meridian line, in between the Rangers House and the Royal Observatory, in Greenwich Royal Park. We have six, well-surfaced tennis courts, a small terrace area, and putting green, right next to the rose garden, which nestles behind the large Ranger's house. Simply come and play any time, during normal Park Opening hours, or book in advance by calling our 24 hour answering service, to reserve a court. Summer evenings and weekends get very busy, so booking is recommended at these times.

Tennis coaching is also offered, including weekend intensives, junior clinics, and the more usual one-to-one with Mark, the coaching professional.

Court access during the Olympics

GPTC is anticipating a remarkable summer with the Olympics and Paralympics on the way. It is a once in a life-time event for London and a great honour to be hosting the event. For us, however, it does have its consequences; Greenwich Park will host Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon events for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and this means that our courts will have to be shut down for most of the late summer.

The courts will be closed from 1st July to 22nd September. Dates are subject to change and we will update you should the September opening date change.

We understand that this is a great inconvenience to you, our tennis playing public, and we can only apologise for events that are beyond our control. Please be assured that the overall closure of the park was originally scheduled for a longer period but feedback from park users, including ourselves, was taken on board and plans were changed. The park itself will now be closed for a period of 4 weeks from July 7th although parts of the Flower Garden and the Children’s Playground will remain open throughout – except on the 30th July which is the day of the Cross Country event.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, (LOCOG) has agreed that the tennis courts will be reinstated in their current condition. There is an overall sporting legacy for Greenwich as a result of the Games and you can find details here http://www.london2012.com/greenwich-park/benefits-for-greenwich-residents.html
