AWARD FOR WILL TO WIN
The Tennis Foundation today announced that Will to Win Tennis Centres in The Regent’s Park and Hyde Park have been awarded ‘Beacon’ status. The award recognises the high quality, fun and affordable community tennis programmes that are on offer. The announcement was made as the new season got underway and The Royal Parks Schools’ programme was launched, designed to extend the availability of tennis opportunities to the local community.

Will to Win Centres in Regent’s Park and Hyde Parks were selected by the Tennis Foundation for the accolade, which recognises the best community-focussed facilities, as part of AEGON Parks Tennis. Sue Mappin, Executive Director of the Tennis Foundation, said: “We are delighted to award Regent’s Park and Hyde Park ‘Beacon’ status to recognise the excellent work they are already doing with their well established community and schools’ programme. To grow participation we need more quality public tennis facilities like this, offering the local community a fun affordable tennis experience year round.” Colin Buttery, Director of Parks and Deputy Chief Executive for The Royal Parks said: “The Royal Parks works closely with Will to Win and is committed to junior tennis and to helping young people develop an interest in active sport. We are delighted that the excellent community tennis programmes on offer in Regent’s Park and Hyde Park have been recognised with an award from the Tennis Foundation.”
Steve Riley, Director of Will to Win Tennis, one of the leading private providers of public tennis in the UK, said: “The Tennis Foundation support is vital to the success of our programme for the development of community tennis– not only will more people be able to play tennis year round but our coaching team and pavilion staff will have year round work promoting public tennis – the Beacon status confirms our position as an organisation that delivers fun affordable year round tennis getting more players playing tennis better. Our 22 courts in Regent’s Park and Hyde Park will enable us to offer a range of tennis activities from Cardio tennis to junior match play events and free courts for kids Monday – Friday 3-5pm. We would like to thank the Tennis Foundation for the Beacon Status award and are delighted to be one of the first parks to be recognised as a centre of excellence for community tennis through our new Beacon status.”
