Tournaments and competition are vital to tennis. It's where players put their practice under pressure in the real game. Tournament events provide opportunities to play in friendly matches and an excuse to enjoy the buzz and atmoshere generated by a crowd. Fun to play, competition also provides a meand to measure player development.
