Regents Park tennis centre has a thriving adult coaching programme. Group and Individual Coach led sessions are available to players new to tennis right through to those playing at competition standard. Adult coaching sessions at Regents Park comprise six week courses or drop in ‘pay and play’ sessions. Each session caters for players of a certain standard. A club rating system is in operation to match player’s standards to the correct session ensuring everyone benefits from learning and playing with players of a similar level. COURSES vs DROP IN SESSIONS

At Regents Park Tennis Centre we operate both coach led courses and drop in sessions.

Courses:
Adult beginner/ advanced beginner and improvers/intermediate tennis courses are run mid week for a series of six lessons. It is recommended that players register in advance due to demand and the popularity of the courses..
Beginners course: covers all basic stroke production over a six week period, including a technical look at the serve, return of serve, forehand/backhand ground strokes, net play including approaches, volleys, and smashes. Basic tactics and scoring are also introduced.
Improvers course: covers a more in depth look at the techniques of the strokes used in tennis.  For example themes may include spin generation, direction, and consistency on the forehand and backhand ground strokes; consistency, and physical positioning and direction of volleys; Serve: correct grip for generation of pace and spins and keys to consistent serving. Correct positioning and repositioning on the court; a tactical look at different game based situations in both singles and doubles play. Content of sessions will be differentiated and tailored relevant to the standards of the players

Drop Ins

Drop in sessions are for people who would like to try tennis for the first time, have an extra coach led lesson per week to compliment the courses, or alternatively for players wishing to attend sessions appropriate to their standard with the flexibility that drop in sessions offer in that you can just turn up pay and play.

There are a number of coach led drop in sessions ranging from hour long sessions for beginners and improvers concentrating mainly on technique and tactics to further individuals games, drills and social sessions which are for intermediate level players who get worked out with themed drill practises and then mix in and play social doubles with each other for the second hour. Team practise is for advanced players, again coach led intensive drills for the first hour then players mix in and compete for the second hour.
Drop in sessions at Regents Park take place on Saturdays and Sundays, and sessions cater for players of specific standards. Please see the rating guideline for a detailed description of playing level relevant to programme sessions.
Drop Ins are pay and play sessions, which operate on a first come first serve basis. Spaces are limited to ensure the correct ratio of players to coach is maintained. Therefore players can be registered at reception a maximum of 45 mins before it commences to secure a place. Receipts will be given upon registering at reception which should be handed to coach on court at beginning of session.
